Lucban's First

Fernando Cadeliña Nañawa
The only tapestry artists listed in the Directory of Filipino Artists published by the Cultural Center of the Philippines, Mr. Nañawa obtained his Fine Arts degree from the University of the Philippines. He was dean of the College of Fine Arts of the then Southern Luzon Polytechnic College and a multi-awarded artist known for his tapestry and higantes. Nanding, as he was fondly called by his friends and colleagues, was born in Lucban on Mach 15, 1941. He died on August 26, 2001. 1n 1999, Nañawa received the Quezon Medalya ng Karangalan in Arts, an award given by the Provincial Government of Quezon for meritorious and exemplary works of Quezonians in many different fields of endeavors.
